Walk the Line is the first feature-length documentary to chronicle the perilous journey of Chinese migrants crossing the Darién Gap—a treacherous jungle stretch connecting Colombia and Panama. The film has become a viral phenomenon on Chinese social media, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by those fleeing China’s stringent Zero-COVID policies, economic downturn, and human rights concerns in pursuit of a new life in the United States.

Through immersive on-the-ground footage and deeply personal narratives, the film explores the lives of several migrants. Among them are a same-sex couple who hid their identities for fear of discrimination, a female migrant who endured extreme physical challenges in the jungle, and a middle-aged man who left Beijing after enduring pandemic lockdowns and chose to embark on this life-threatening journey. From the grueling trek to the trials of adjusting to life in the U.S., Walk the Line captures their resilience, sacrifices, and hopes for a better future while reflecting the broader social issues within China.

With stunning visuals and poignant interviews, the documentary inspires profound reflection on the migrant experience and human rights crises.
